Charley Noel and Jeannie Provo-Petersen present at Twin Cities Claims Association, October, 2010, meeting on Claims Handling of Claims Involving Specialized Commercial Vehicles.

 

Charley Noel and Jeannie Provo-Petersen of Provo-Petersen & Associates, P.A., presented an educational session on the handling of claims involving specialized commercial vehicles at the October, 2010, meeting of Twin Cities Claims Association in Minneapolis. The presentation of Charley Noel focused on claims handling and defense of commercial trucking claims. The presentation by Jeannie Provo-Petersen focused on claims handling and defense of lawsuits involving busses and taxi cabs.

Charley Noel and George Ham present at 2009 PLRB/LIRB Claims Conference in Seattle, Washington.

 

Charley Noel and George Ham, Regional Product Manager for Crawford & Company, presented educational sessions on Mortgage Clause Claims Issues at the 2009 PLRB/LIRB Annual Claims Conference.  The Claims Conference was held in Seattle, Washington, from March 22-25, 2009.  The Mortgage Clause Claims Issues presentation focused on the following areas:

  • The nature of the current mortgage and foreclosure crisis and the implications for property insurance claim handlers.
  • A review of unique insurance claims issues involving mortgages and foreclosures.
  • Current caselaw and effective strategies for insurers in responding to the increasing number of mortgage claim challenges, including multiple mortgages, vacancies, foreclosures before and after a loss, fraud schemes, change in risk, and insurable interest.

The Mortgage Clause Claims Issues session presented by Charley Noel and George Ham was featured as part of the Cover Story in the March, 2009, edition of Claims magazine.

Charley Noel and Bob Johnson present at Northwest Loss Association, Inc., January, 2009, meeting on Minnesota's First-Party Bad Faith Statute.

 

Charley Noel and Bob Johnson, President of the Insurance Federation of Minnesota, presented an educational session on Minnesota's First-Party Bad Faith Statute, M.S. 604.18 (2008) at the January, 2009, meeting of Northwest Loss Association, Inc., in Minneapolis.  The presentation focused on the following areas:

  • Who can recover under the Bad Faith Statute.
  • Types of claims subject to the Bad Faith Statute.
  • Standards for liability.
  • Suggested claims handling guidelines.
  • Procedural analysis of how the Statute works.
  • Burden of proof required by the Statute.
  • Analysis of damages and costs recoverable under the Bad Faith Statute.
